Processes and standards for digital projects costing over £5 million
Before the end of the year, new standards and processes set by the Digital Portfolio Office (DPO) will start to be rolled out. You'll need to follow these new standards and processes if your project:
- has a digital element
- has an estimated cost of over £5 million (including resource and capital cost of implementation)
-
is a unique, transient activity intended to deliver or contribute towards change
-
is being delivered by the Scottish Government (SG), or Executive Agencies under the Technology Assurance Framework - this excludes Local Government, SG Strategic Organisational Change projects, SG Health and Health Public Bodies and all other types of public bodies in Scotland
The standards and processes you'll need to meet will be:
-
following reporting requirements to the DPO
-
standardising the usage and quality of your project artefacts
-
following the Digital Portfolio Governance Framework, led by the Scottish Government Executive Team
-
following the business change lifecycle and appropriate delivery stage gates for your project
These processes and standards are currently being established and will be owned by the DPO. Further information will be published before the end of the year.
The DPO
The Digital Portfolio is led by the Portfolio Director, governed by the Digital Portfolio Board and managed by the DPO.
The DPO manages the day-to-day running of the portfolio, supporting executive decision making and partnering with projects to develop more standardised approaches. The DPO is also responsible for the Digital Projects Register, which supports the collection of data within Technology Assurance Framework reporting, Public Audit Committee reporting and our Digital Portfolio reporting.
For any queries regarding the Digital Portfolio or the Digital Project Register, contact the DPO.
Digital Scotland Service Standard
In addition to DPO standards, you must make sure your project also meets the Digital Scotland Service Standard.
