How to request usability support

You should complete the usability support request form to give us an idea of your needs and a rough timescale.

The team will respond within five working days. If the request is appropriate for the usability service and we are available, we'll:

  1. Meet with you to scope out your business needs, existing research, support resources and so on.
  2. Send you a costed statement of work and draft schedule for your approval.
  3. Carry out any preparatory work you approve.
  4. Finalise the schedule for the main work.

Most usability projects have six stages:

  1. Scoping.
  2. Research design.
  3. Recruiting participants.
  4. Testing.
  5. Analysis.
  6. Playback (where we present the findings and any recommendations).

Timescales

Depending on the user groups and complexity, we can complete a project in as little as 4 weeks, but most projects take longer than this.

Accessibility testing

If you want us to carry out testing with disabled users, we may ask for an accessibility review first.

If the reviewer finds a blocker affecting a particular user group, for example, if something is inaccessible to screen reader users, we will not test with that group until the blocker is fixed.
